"A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him"
David Brinkley, American Journalist 1920 – 2003

We have to deal with our own fair share of issues, not all of our own making and many that are handed down to us. Don’t moan; don't lose faith, deal with the issues, rise above and succeed.

"A true leader always keeps an element of surprise up his sleeve, which others cannot grasp but which keeps his public excited and breathless"
Charles de Gaulle, French Statesman, 1890 - 1970

You need to be different in order to stand out, don’t let those who lack the vision hold you back from capturing your audience.

"About the time we can make the ends meet, somebody moves the ends"
Herbert Hoover, American President, 1874 – 1964

Many times we believe that we have reached our goal only to discover that we still have a long way to go. Maintain an open mind, remain flexible, and be ready for whatever comes your way.

"Business, more than any other occupation, is a continual dealing with the future; it is a continual calculation, an instinctive exercise in foresight"
Henry R. Luce, American Editor, 1898 – 1967

Be prepared for the constant challenges that lie ahead, they will be the one true constant in your life.

"Economic depression cannot be cured by legislative action or executive pronouncement. Economic wounds must be healed by the action of the cells of the economic body - the producers and consumers themselves"
Herbert Hoover, American President, 1874 – 1964

We are the creators of our own salvation

"He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery"
Harold Wilson, English Statesman, 1916 – 1995

Everyone recognizes that change is an integral part of business; be the architect of change and not decay!

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"
Mohandas Gandhi, Indian Leader, 1869 – 1948

Don’t wait for your ship to come in, swim out and meet it.

"Common sense is not so common"
Voltaire, French writer, 1694 - 1228

Smart people are learning all the time, especially from their mistakes, there is no substitute for experience.

"You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?"
George Bernard Shaw, Irish Playwright, 1856 –1950

There are no limitations as to what is possible, ensure that you take time to develop the ideas that could transform your business.

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it"
Michael Jordan, Professional Basketball Player, born 1963

If you fall to the wayside every now and then you need to pick yourself up and get back on track - successful companies take risks that don't always work.

Marketing Tips: Re-Focusing and Re-Thinking Priorities during Tough Times
Posted by 3Sixty on 18/02/2009
14 Marketing Tips

Core Business Advantage
Focus on your core business advantages when communicating a clear and consistent message to re-enforce your brand

80/20 Rule
In most cases it has been proven that 80% potential value can be achieved from just 20% effort. Invest your time wisely to truly determine where you place the 20% of your marketing effort in order to best maximize return on investment.

Support your Sales People
Build a strong and lasting relationship with your sales teams. Don’t presume to know what your sales team needs, listen to what they have to say, bounce ideas of them and then develop the marketing tools that will truly support their needs.

New Markets
Think about targeting new market segments, regions and countries. Today you can’t afford to miss any opportunity that will generate new revenue streams.

Competitors
How can you wipe out your competition? Know how to differentiate yourself from them and make others aware of those differentiating factors.

Hold your Nerve
You don't have to discount prices in order to attract and keep customers. Try new tactics by offering value added customer service, loyalty schemes and more.

Strategy
Once defined your strategy is your bible. Don't get distracted by competitors and don’t get way sided by outside influences.

Customer Retention
Do you have a plan in place to retain your current customer base?

Test, Test, Test
Now is the time to get creative and decide what new marketing tactics will help you meet your goals?

Customer Research
How well do you know your customers? What new problems could you be solving for them?

One-on-One Communications
Consider how you talk to your customers? People like to buy from people and not companies.

Re-Invent

Website
Invest marketing spend in your website. Hands down this is the most effective way to target new customers.

Steal Market Share
What will it take for you to take custom from the competition, have you investigated all avenues?

Map out the Sales Process
Can your website shorten the sales process, possibly increasing revenue and profit?
